Enabled by Design: people powered personalisation

Earlier this week, I was lucky enough to have been invited to speak at RIPFA‘s (Research in Practice for Adults) Occupational Therapy (OT) conference at Birmingham’s science museum, Thinktank.

The conference entitled “Are we ready to put people first?” was aimed at providing OTs with the space to explore and learn more about how the personalisation agenda, as set out in the government paper “Putting people first”, will shape the role of OTs in the future.

It was my job to talk about what personalisation means to me and how and why I set up Enabled by Design in reaction to my own experiences as a service user. You can read more about this, by checking out my presentation slides below:

It was great to be a part of this interesting and thought provoking
event, especially since I’d been inspired by my previous contact with
the OT profession and had even considered retraining to pursue this as
a career. Unfortunately, my health meant that this wasn’t really a
suitable option for me to take, so I was more than happy when this
opportunity arose to be involved in a different way.

A big thank you to RIPFA and all of the OTs at the conference for making me feel welcome!

PS. Would love to hear any thoughts or feedback you may have in relation to my presentation, just add your comments below. Thanks! : )
