  • <p>Last week I had the rather lovely opportunity to speak at an event run by the College of Occupational Therapists (COT) looking at assistive technology and design. On arriving, I was very pleasantly surprised to see that I'd been billed on the agenda as the keynote opening, so no pressure there then! ; )<p/>
<p>But before I tell you all about the event, I thought a good starting point would be to explain what we mean when talking about assistive technology...<p/>

  • <p>Enabled by Design is always looking out for exciting online projects that are finding ways to support people to live as independently as possible, whether it's through campaigning like the great work of the Broken of Britain, providing peer-to-peer support or information sharing and advice. So when we came across the work of Martyn Sibley and his plans for 'Seminar in your Slippers', we thought you might like to hear about it too...<p/>

  • <p>At the end of last year I was made an offer I really couldn't refuse. Philippa Aldrich, founder of The Future Perfect Company, invited me to be part of the judging panel for a design competition she was running at my old sixth form college, Collyer's. Of course the answer was yes and so I headed back to my snow covered home town, Horsham, to visit some of my old haunts.<p/>
<p>Here Philippa talks about the aim of the competition, its entries and the winners...<p/>
