With all this snow, I’ve been noticing an upsurge in the use of wellies in London.
OK so they may not be assistive equipment – more adaptive equipment – but I am really not a fan.
They’re cold, uncomfortable and they fall into the croc/ugg fashion crime camp in my mind.
Granted they keep your feet dry and (may) give you more grip, but surely there is a better way?
Ideas please ![]()

Wellies

Don’t know if these are much better than the above wellies, but saw a feature on the telly a while ago about Shuellas. These are essentially waterproof covers that fit over and protect your high heels, being waterproof, durable and non-slip. They come in a range of colours too! Just not too sure if they’d be your cup of tea!?! ; )
In terms of making your wellies warmer, you can buy fleece welly socks to be worn inside your boots. The ones from Hunter (traditional British welly brand) come with a range of turnovers with different designs (see below) : )
You sure know your winter foot wear, but as you and some people on Twitter say, I’m not convinced the pink things are much better I have to say!! ;-)
Anyone remember galoshes? Basically waterproof shoes that fit over your own shoes…look horrible but easy to get on and off compared to wellies.
Sound good to me as long as they don’t look like this…
