I was excited to see this interesting alternative to the traditional stairlift that we all know so well. The Stiltz Duo Home Lift is a through floor lift which can be installed to retrofit your home if climbing the stairs is or is becoming a particular challenge. The lift can comfortably carry up to two people standing and can even fit in a vacuum cleaner and the family pet apparently, but I guess that’s not all at the same time!?! ; ) There’s even an option for a pull down seat, if you’d prefer to sit while the lift transports you from one floor to the one above.
Here’s what Stiltz has to say about its Duo Home Lift and what makes it stand out from other through floor lifts on the market:
• Self-supporting structure – unique dual rail structure does not require load-bearing walls
• Self-contained drive mechanism – no need for external power packs
• Small footprint – covers just 0.62 m² surface area
• Plugs into normal 13 amp power socket – like all other household appliances
• Versatile placement and fitting – our range of models can be positioned anywhere in the home
• Quieter than any other through floor lift available

Nice! Back in the day (OK, ten years ago), the through floor lifts I came across were huge. Although they were wonderful for the users that I met, they caused a lot of disruption during install and there were wires and boxes outside the house. This looks really cool. Hope that local authority OTs and architects can get on board with these. Would love to try one out!
