In honour of BBC Ouch!‘s #DisabilityGadgets hashtag on Twitter, I’ve decided to dig out the product review of my black Kowsky crutches from the old version of the Enabled by Design website. So here goes:

I’ve been using crutches for the past four years now. For the majority of this time I’ve been using my standard issue pair of NHS crutches, which did the job but weren’t really designed with long term use in mind. As time went by I became more and more frustrated that my crutches looked pretty ugly, clicked all the time and had an unforgiving hard grip which made my hands sore. Therefore, I started looking for a replacement pair that met my needs, taste and budget. That’s when I came across Kowsky, a German firm that make the most beautiful crutches in the world (that’s as far as I know of course)! Once I tried out these crutches there was no turning back; they’re fairly lightweight, fully adjustable, have non skid rubber stoppers and a comfy non-slip rubberised grip, come in a range of colours and most importantly don’t click whatsoever! Yippee! Can’t recommend them highly enough, they’ve made a huge difference and what’s more I’ve had quite a few compliments too!
