Having stayed in far too many cheap hotels recently, my biggest bug bear about them is the horrible hair dryers they provide.
I can live with the single heat setting and the way they only seem to stretch a centimetre from the wall, but what I can’t cope with is the button on the handle you have keep holding down to turn it on.
For anyone with any dexterity or pain problems in their hands, having to hold down this button is just so difficult and painful. I don’t understand why the button is even necessary – do hotels have big problems with rogues leaving their hairdryers on all night long that I don’t know about??
It is a massive issue and one that doesn’t need to be there. Come on hotels, sort it out.

Hotel Hairdryers

Hi,
I’m not sure if this will be a helpful suggestion or not, but have you thought about investing in a small lightweight travel hairdryer that you can take with you on trips? I know it means adding an extra item to your luggage, but at least you’re guaranteed to have a hairdryer that works for you, so that you’re not solely reliant on what the hotel provides.
I spotted a cute looking foldaway, travel hairdryer being sold in Muji recently:
I’ve not tried it out, but it meets the requirements of being compact and lightweight, so it might be worth a try. If you do decide to give it a go, would love to know how you get on! : )
Oohhh… now that does look good. I have learnt to travel ultra-light recently which has mean sacrificing things like a hairdryer and straighteners, but then that does lead to problems like the one above.
If this is mega-small it might be a good compromise. I’ll go and check it out – thank you
