Me and my kitchen are never the best of mates – call it a male thing – but this product makes my life much easier. It is nicely designed in simple white plastic with a big blue button – PRESS HERE. It tackles tins of most sizes . When a tin has that ring pull i just turn the tin upside down and use my opener. Its so easy to use – I just opened everything in my food cupboard – just now have to eat the tuna with a best before date of june 2006!!!!

Culinaire One Touch Can Opener

Have got one of these and would be lost without it! It’s a real must-have for the kitchen : )
BTW recently saw an ad for a very similar product: JML Hands-free can opener
http://www.jmldirect.com/Hands-Free-Can-Opener-PH3455/
Haven’t tried it out myself, but there’s a video showing how it works and apparently it’s widely available in high street shops such as Argos, Boots and Tesco.
Definitely like the Culinaire version better and am putting this on my christmas list. Was given a cheaper one last year and unfortunately the motor in that wasn’t up to the job for even bean tins.
As an interim I’ve picked up an OXO good grips single hand use can opener – you still have to turn the ‘cutter’ by hand but the handles clip together, reducing the effort needed. I can (just) open those big tinned sponge puddings with this. As usual for OXO it has that nice ‘feel’ to the handles and they are ergonomically shaped. It manages regular tins with ease. Not sure of the model number but it has slightly curved handles and a grey release button. Will try and track down receipt and then post details.
