The Calibre book service (calibre.org.uk) is an audio book subscription service, free of charge for disabled, blind and dyslexic people. I have taken out a subscription for my dad, who has MS and is finding it increasingly difficult to read books. Calibre send the CDs through the post, with a new one being dispatched whenever you return one. Although the service is free, you must buy the player, which must be capable of playing MP3 format CDs. They recommend one from www.hagger.co.uk.

Thanks for adding this Luke, it’s much appreciated! I’ve had a quick look on http://www.hagger.co.uk and have added a picture of the portable book player on offer. Is this the one that your Dad uses? Sounds like a good investment, as you can buy the player for £54.78 (inc VAT) and use Calibre’s free audio book service to your heart’s content. Thanks again! : )
That’s the one. Thanks.
