We are Enabled by Design: TV and Disability
Today mark's the fourth and final installment of the "We are Enabled by Design" video series. Last but no means least, is Kate Monaghan from markthree media, who joined us to talk about a programme her team produced for BBC2, called 'Are you having a laugh? TV and Disability'. The programme was aired on 25th June, taking a lighthearted look at how disability has been portrayed on television over the past 40 years.

We are Enabled by Design: Future of the Workplace
How do we want our workspace to be designed?
How will we value work in the future?
How do we improve working lives for everybody?
These were some of the things we were asking as we embarked on our first event as A+E, organised by the impressive Enabled by Design to bring practitioners together for a new look at the aging and disability debate. Whether it's our homes, our workplaces, our products or our technologies, instead of designing special 'stuff' for those with access needs (and which often looks grim, let's face it), Enabled by Design says: can't we just make sure we're designing great stuff for all?

...Enabled by Design introduces sugru...
What happens when you already own a product that you either find uncomfortable or difficult to use? Rather than throwing it away or burying it in the cupboard under the stairs, why not have a go at "hacking" and see what you come up with...
For those of you not already in the know, "hacking" is just another word for modifying an object in some way, be it to make it easier to use, look pretty, improve its functionality or make repairs. This is where sugru comes in...
Sugru is a bit like modeling clay, but here's the clever bit, it cures overnight at room temperature to become a tough, flexible silicone and is perfect for "hacking".
Here at Enabled by Design HQ we love the idea of sugru and are particularly interested in how it can be used to make things easier and safer for people to use.
