Keeping with recent appearances at various social innovation themed events, Enabled by Design were honoured to be invited to present at the launch of the UK Catalyst Awards tonight.

The awards, led by Make Your Mark and in partnership with the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, NESTA and a number of other organisations (see here for a full list), are all about rewarding and celebrating the use of the Internet to deliver social change. Speaking at the event was Dan McQuillan (Make Your Mark) who also compered proceedings, Helen Gresty (Executive Director of Innovation Programmes at NESTA) and the Minister for the Third Sector Phil Hope. And then there was little ol’ Enabled by Design in the mix between Helen and Phil to give an flavour of the kind of projects these awards could throw up and celebrate.

Interestingly, it struck me (just as I had finished my speech of course!) that it was in fact in that very room that I first bumped into Anna Maybank (of Social Innovation Camp fame) after the launch of Charlie Leadbeater’s “We Think”, merely three weeks before the closing date for entries for the camp. The rest, as they say, is history.

A very enjoyable return visit all in all.
